SUPER SQUEE Mail!!!

  • Feb. 2nd, 2009 at 11:23 PM

OMG!  OMG!  I got the BEST surprise waiting for me in my mail box when I got off work today!!

[info]dragonsinger954  said she had a present for me a couple weeks ago and asked for my address...  And guess what was in my mailbox today!?!

I literally jumped up and down a little bit in my dining room and squeed out loud!
Thank you thank you thank you so much [info]dragonsinger954  !!  I LOVE IT!!!!

I'm alive

  • Jan. 24th, 2009 at 11:52 AM

First order of business...
I'm a bad blogger and have forgotten/ not had time, to thank [info]hardhatcat for sending me a very nice consolation prize for the recent Twilight craft challenge for being the only person to submit anything before the 1st deadline!  I got a very cute pair of apple earrings!  Yay!  Thank you very much!

Secondly...
Lost 2 pounds this week (Still not sure how, as I have been a bad girl.)  I'm sure it has something to do with the frantic running around at my new job.  So, a total of 64.4 lost.  I'm 13.2 pounds off of my March 13th goal.  No, it is not impossible, but it seems a little daunting at this point... We'll see.  I just need to be better!  And I have been better this week than last week, so it is a start.

And lastly...
I got my schedule for work for February.  I'm working more or less full time (37 hours).  Only, 3 nights a week, I am schedule as the 3-11 person, with no 4-9 person.  That does not fit very well.  There need to be more than just one person.  We'll see how that goes...  I was informed that the schedule may change, so at that point, we'll see how it is.  I am concerned they may try to tell me that I can't get my vacation in March, at which point, I will be quitting, as that was one of the reasons I took the job.  She told me that it "won't be a problem."  So, if I don't get said vacation, I walk.  And by that point, I'll have enough experience that I can get a job at any of the other places in town, as they are always hiring.
Last night was a bitch...  There is a flu bug going around.  2 people threw up at dinner.  I got pissed on.  Yes, pissed on my arm.  One of the other girls had to clean up poo, and I had to help clean vomit.  It was a very uncharacteristic night for the place.  Damn flu...  It was the worst night I've had there since I started.
Me and the other two girls I work with actually took a Starbucks cupcake break because we just needed some time.  We closed the nurses station door, all sat down and ate cupcakes with probably billions of calories.  It was so worth it and so needed!
Anyway, that is all, for now.  I've pretty much caught up on everything that has happened, which is work, and not a whole lot else.

This Week

  • Jan. 16th, 2009 at 11:38 AM

The week isn't totally over.  I did weigh myself this morning, however, and hadn't lost but a pound maybe.  So I thought I'd wait a couple more days, until Sunday, and do an official weigh in.
It's just really hard with the two jobs right now to be really good about all the diet stuff.  Granted, I am walking my butt off at work!  I took a pedometer the last couple days.  The first day, in 5 hours, I walked nearly 10,000 steps and 3.96 miles.  Yesterday, 7,000 steps and 3.12 miles.  So, I'm walking a lot every day.  But, there are so many temptations at work, that it's hard to pass them up!  I just need to regain my iron will power that I had at the beginning of all of this.  The other problem with all of it is that my schedule is just ridiculous.  Time wise, I have to eat when I can.  And if the kitchen has leftovers at work, it's hard not to pass that up because I'm hungry right then!  And then someone brings in cupcakes (which I didn't eat, as I don't like frosting) and someone else brought in chocolate covered pretzels.  I only had one of those.  BUT - They had movie night and had leftover popcorn!! *dies*  Total popcorn weakness!
I did pretty good with the weight loss last week, but I think a lot of that had to do with extreme stress levels.  I just need to get my ass back in gear.
I haven't gained any weight, but I've only lost a tiny amount.  So, as long as I haven't gained, I can't be totally hard on myself.  I just need to keep going, and get re-focused.  I know I can.  I just went grocery shopping too, so that'll help, having all the healthy food handy instead of whatever I can throw together.

Now, as far as the new job.  For the most part, it's going really well.  The boss told me I'd be getting full-time on the 1st of February.  She also informed me that next month they will start training me as a med tech, which is a pay raise!  So I'm pretty stoked about that.  It's a pretty stressful job, making sure everyone gets their meds, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.  The bonus about that as well is that it allows me to be able to be schedule more often, and cover for people which means more potential for hours!
Anyway, turns out, one of the girls I work with, Desiree, loves Twilight as well!!!  I told her last night that I have a weakness for Vampire books and she said she does too!  Yay!!!  Her and I get along really well.  HOWEVER - She is an icky gross dog lover!  Ewwww!!!!!  Team Edward is so much better...  Turns out, Laura, our medtech is an icky Team Jacob girl too!  What is wrong with people!!!! Vampires are WAY hotter than werewolves, and werewolves have fleas!
Now, I do work with another girl that is driving me crazy.  I work with her 2 days a week right now, which is about 2 days too many.  Now, she's a nice lady.  And she trained me the first day.  However, she is so much less organized that Desiree!  Desiree and I work very well together.  Things get done in a timely fashion, and neither of us feel like we are busting our asses.  The work is spread out equally and she doesn't just give me all of the shit jobs while she takes all of the easy ones.
However, that's exactly what the other girl does.  I did probably 75% of the work on Wednesday, and the only thing I think she really did was laundry.  I gave 2 showers, put the most time consuming residents to bed, and did all but one of the escorts to and from dinner.  I did stockings and all sorts of other random crap.  I couldn't find her most of the night, and she didn't have a walkie on her.
More on this later...

Oh, I couldn't resist!

Cass Weighs in on "Twilight"

  • Nov. 22nd, 2008 at 9:08 AM

I went to see "Twilight" last night at midnight.  And, I'll be going to see it again tomorrow with Justine.  I may change my review, but until then... Here's what I think.

Spoilers, spoilers everywhere. Don't read if you don't want to be spoiled! )

*SQUEE!* For my Mom!!!!!

  • Nov. 15th, 2008 at 3:01 PM

This the the IM conversation that I just had with my mother.  *squee!*  Though, I think I might be devastated if she didn't like it.  But come on, it's Twilight, who wouldn't like it!!!???
I would like to add that she is always giving me crap for vampire obsession.  I think, however, being inundated with Twilight stuff recently on t.v. and the news, she may be caving in and actually get into it!  I can't tell you how many times I've heard "Oh, dear God" after I have told her about my Twilight crafting!

Mom: do u have the book Twilight?
Me: Yes, I have the whole series.
Me: Why?
Mom: ok
Mom: I am at K-Mart
Mom: I want to read that one but not sure I want to read the others
Me: Yeah, you can borrow it
Mom: is it going to be all goofy if I read just that one?
Me: No
Me: But I doubt you'll be able to stop
Me: Just remember, they are written for young adults and about vampires and squishy, mooshey love stuff.

Twilight Local News Story

  • Nov. 15th, 2008 at 9:04 AM

www.komonews.com/home/video/34396819.html

Given that I live only about about 125 miles (30 minute ferry ride off my island and a 2 hour drive) from Forks, Washington, where Twilight is set, it would only makes sense that the Seattle news would be playing a story about the boom that Forks has had to its economy due to the movie.  I had considered going to Port Angeles to see the movie, but then I decided that that would be like a suicide mission, so I thought better of it.
However, the camping road trip is still on for Spring, once it stops raining so damn much...
Anyway, thought I'd share a little bit of Twilight movie-ness from good 'ole rainy Washington state!

Craft Win!

  • Nov. 14th, 2008 at 11:50 AM

*does victory dance*  Take THAT, lady on eBay who made me pay $16.09 for a cross-stitch pamphlet that would normally cost around $5!
I won the pattern, and hopefully it'll be here by the end of next week so I can get it started after I go to the craft store on the 24th.  Can't wait for that Monday - Twilight movie and then the craft store!  Is there ANY better way to spend the day than watching vampires and going to a craft store!?  I think not, my dear friends!

Just a few notes for the morning

  • Nov. 11th, 2008 at 7:11 AM

Walking in 45 mph wind gusts is kind of a pain in the ass... At least it wasn't raining.  But contending with the blowing leaves and the branches that were literally dropping out of the trees right in front of me were a little scary.  It's days like this that I can certainly see why Stephenie Meyer picked my part of the country to set Twilight.  The wind also means that Aslan is tearing around the house running from one window to the other back and forth like a little tard.

I'd also like to state that why the Live Journal Writer's Block didn't have anything to do with Veteran's Day is beyond me...
Which reminds me - Thank you to any of the Veterans that are on my friend's list.  If there are none, well, then pass along my thanks to the Veterans in your life.  Without you guys (and gals) we wouldn't enjoy the life and freedom that we do today.

Ok, now what I started this post out for in the first place...
Today is Matt and I's four month anniversary.  Four months of the most perfect time of my life.  It's amazing that a person could go twenty six years and never truly know what happiness was.  I know that if I am this happy now, when we can be together forever and not have to part, will be an indescribable feeling.  I love him so much.  I love him in a way that I never thought I could love someone.  I knew that I would fall in love someday and I even thought that I had been in love.  But until I met Matt and had him in my life, I had no idea what it could truly be like.  He is the best thing that has ever happened to me and my life is so different in so many wonderful ways since I met him.

Looky What Matt Did...

  • Nov. 6th, 2008 at 4:47 PM

Apparantly he takes issue with the fact that I'm still sorta in love with Edward Cullen, even though Matt is infinitely better!  Still kinda cute, thought I had to post it :)

He said he "sneakily" edited this one and then e-mailed it to me

Isn't he cute and talented? lol  Silly boys :)  Very sweet of him though.
